We went to the doctor today, and both of our girls have grown (as evidenced by the photo above...thanks for the cool shirts, Bryan, Julia fills out the 6 month onesie well). Each of Grace's appointments as an infant confirmed that she was tall and thin. Well, believe it or not, Julia is much taller than Grace (and heavier too). Julia weighs 12 lbs and 15.3 oz; that's a gain of 5 pounds since her birth. She measures 25.5 inches in length, and just for comparison, Grace was 23 inches at the same age. In essence she's the length of a median 6 month old. I knew that she ate a lot, but golly!! We are thrilled with her growth and overall development.
Grace has also gained 5 pounds, but she did that over the course of a year. She measures 38 inches, which keeps her a the top of the stack in terms of height (she's around the 85th percentile). Grace also surpasses all developmental milestones. We have been somewhat concerned about her stutter, but the doctor eased our minds. Even if it persists, we won't deal with it therapeutically until she's 5. After our visit, Grace informed us that she wants to be a doctor too. When asked what kind of doctor (Craig was hoping for a vet), she replied "a doctor for babies." Our new pediatrician is a big hit!
All in all a good report for the Byron bugs. Below is a video of Julia taken on our recent trip to Minneapolis (yes, stories of Maine and Minnesota to come).
