quiet

I'm sitting in my house alone (alright, not quite alone, Julia is sleeping) for the first time in a month. It's very, very quiet. Craig is back at work. Grace is at school. Nina is home with Dan.

I miss the noise.

Over the weekend three other girlfriends descended on Macon for a little reunion with Nina and me. While Wendes made the trek from Baltimore, Quentin and Nicola drove over from Augusta. We had one of the best evenings, filled with laughter and way too much wine, that I have had in recent memory. The five of us met while I was living in Augusta and formed a sustaining support group for eachother. We have quite a range in ages and experience (I'm the youngest at 34; Nina is the oldest at 54). They are a remarkable group of women, and I am so thankful to have them in my life (even though we live so far apart).

They all departed on Sunday morning, so I had the day to repair the house in preparation of Craig's arrival. We picked him up at the Groome Station at 5 pm. Grace's face nearly cracked with a grin so large. She was very, very happy to see her Dad. She didn't let him out of her sight for the rest of the night. I was certainly happy to see my guy too. As you all know, I missed him terribly.

So now it's back to the routine, whatever that is. I have two freelance jobs on the horizon, so it's going to get busy again. With that in mind, I want to remember to take the time to enjoy my life. I'm so thankful for this year, for my friends, for my daughters, my family, and my husband. I've recently been reading the blog of an old highschool friend, and she's been writing a daily blessing. What a wonderful way to look at the world. My life is infinitely blessed.
