We made a whirlwind trip to Florida over the weekend to see my brother for his birthday. Those who know about Matt's struggles may understand why celebrating his birthday, another one sober, is such a blessing. Being with him now is being in the presence of peace. I wish I could explain it better. Then I might be able to relate the arc of his life, the precipitous fall, and his rebirth. It's rare to be with a person so true, so real, and I'm deeply grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of his life again.
