I've been without a computer for what seems like a month; though, in reality, it has probably been only a week and a half. In any case, I've been stalking the Apple Store in search of a refurbished Mac laptop. The best deals disappear within minutes. I lost out on two MacBook Pros in the midst of entering my credit card information and then was forced to sit for three days with no new selections. Argh.
But I triumphed last night. Knowing how quickly these gems disappear, I dropped my selection into the shopping cart and proceeded to check out without actually reading the details of the computer I was about to buy. This devilish tactic, computer here one minute and gone the next, pushed me to buy without consultation. I felt brash and bold, spending fifteen hundred dollars without so much as a glance. Only after I had pushed confirm did I stop to evaluate my purchase: 15.4 inch MacBook Pro, 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, 160 GB hard drive. In a nutshell, it's at least six times as powerful as my old desktop and one thousand dollars cheaper.
Now I am back to waiting. It will take at least three days to process my order and another three to five before the computer arrives. If it doesn't reach my doorstep before I depart for Michigan, I will be a sad camper. Craig has graciously shared his work laptop, so I wasn't completely disconnected, but I can't take his computer to Michigan. The guy actually has work to do, can you believe it? Fingers crossed, everyone, that I reach Apple nirvana soon.

I really hope that you get your computer!! I really miss reading your posts!
i'm so jealous that you're getting a Mac! I wanted a Mac way back when we first got married (my first computer was a Mac)... but I was vetoed. Now two bum computers later, I think I might win the arguement next time! Glad to hear you'll be going to Michigan soon as well.
