But my fifteen month old is driving me nuts.
There, I said it. Now I should probably delete this post.
.....
New topic. Princess dresses.
Today was "wacky" day at Grace's school. They are working on the letter W, and kids were instructed to dress wacky for the day. This caused a considerable amount of unhappiness in my house.
"Grace, what are you going to wear for wacky day?"
"I want to wear my princess dress."
"Your princess dress isn't wacky though."
"Well, Lauryn is going to wear her princess dress, and I want to wear mine too."
Craig to me in a whisper: "she is not going to wear that stupid princess dress outside of this house!"
"Babe, do you know what it means to dress wacky?
"Uh huh, and I want to wear my princess dress."
"Can I ask why?"
"BECAUSE a princess dress is pretty and I want to be pretty. BEING WACKY ISN'T PRETTY!" Crying commences
So now I'm wondering when did it get so important to be pretty and does she get this from Craig and me? Clearly a topic that I can over-think, so instead I'm going to spend the next week telling Grace that I think she's really smart.
This morning she dressed herself for school, not in her princess dress, but in shorts and a t-shirt. She asked me if I would tell her teacher, Ms. Griffis, that she's "uncomfortable" with dressing wacky, which I did. Turns out Grace wasn't the only one with this dilemma. The other princess, Lauryn, came without her regalia as well.
