Sunday morning
"What do you want to do today?"
"Well, we could stain the porch or paint the bedroom or paint the bathroom or rip up the office carpet."
silence
"Or we could go the zoo. Our membership is about to expire."
"Let's do that. It'll be fun."
famous last words
We got to the zoo right at Julia's naptime. Not good. Grace was also feeling edgy. Not good. Craig and I also had high expectations that we would have a great time. Not good and a little stupid. We've been to the zoo enough times to know that kids act like animals there. Kids also care more about watching other little kids than watching the animals. Perhaps that's why there's a large playground close to the zoo exit. There were a few temper tantrums and a lot of whining, but those moments were mixed with a little glee too. The pictures below capture the happy moments.

The zoo is one of my least favorite excursions, but we have a pass and go often. At this point the boys care more about the playground near the exit. I hate to go when it is busy...too many kids!
Great pictures!
The worst part is that we drove an hour and twenty minutes to get there (the zoo is in ATL). We could have spent that time at a local playground, and the girls would have been just as happy. Well, I guess they did enjoy the lemurs, gorillas, pandas, and meerkats, it wasn't a complete waste.
