Day 1: When good pumpkins go bad
Craig and I had an all day date today. We had a babysitter with the girls for seven hours. Seven whole hours, can you imagine such luxury? We talked like we haven't since we had children, and we also listened to interesting and informative discussions. What, you might ask, were we doing? What opportunity allowed us this entire day to ourselves?
We were painting Julia's bedroom. Yes, we hired a babysitter so we could stay in our house and paint a room. We could have run away to Atlanta or at least gone out for a decadent lunch. Nope. Painting alongside my husband and listening to This American Life was the best date I've had in, well, forever. I don't think I can remember the last time we had a date that lasted all day; surely it was pre-Grace.
Unfortunately our date ended before the room was complete. Now the girls are in the bath, and when they are dried, we will have stories to read and bedtime routines to do. Painting will have to wait.
