My child is a sensitive little flower. At least that's what the allergy tests show. She's not allergic to milk (or to anything else for that matter), just a little sensitive perhaps.
.....
As my face contorted to express confusion over her test results, the allergist quickly added. "this doesn't mean that she isn't sensitive to milk and soy though. Her eczema likely relates to milk, so you shouldn't go crazy with milk products."
"So she's not allergic, but she is sensitive? I'm confused. She didn't develop eczema until we introduced milk, and as soon as we eliminated it, the eczema went away."
"Which isn't that unusual. I have a number of patients who have observed that same pattern. Like I said, she's isn't allergic, but she may be sensitive."
"Okay, well, this is good, I guess. I kind of feel like an idiot for having her tested, but I suppose it's better to know."
"These results are everything you could hope for, and you shouldn't worry about having her tested. Her skin is very sensitive."
.....
So there you have it. She can go back to eating all those foods I excluded. She has sensitive skin, and I have a sensitive ego.

From one eczema-mom to another, I can sympathize! It's normal to wonder where the hell it comes from! My doctor, who's daughter also has terrible eczema, and I have devised a pretty good system to keep it in check. It involves several different lotions and creams for different parts of the body...if you want my attack plan, let me know. Parker's had it since he was a tiny baby. Bottom line, no allergies = good news! Isn't it good to know for sure? Bring on the pizza and ice cream!

Yes, it is good news. I'm not beating myself up too much because she also has really wicked diapers when she gets any milk, and my regular ped thought it was a milk allergy too.
My mom laughed at me when I told her, hence the bruised ego. She couldn't help herself, and well, I probably deserved it!
Knowledge is a good thing -- now you know how to handle her sensitivity. Good for you to find out!
Yay for Julia! Glad it is nothing worse!
