Made

I bought a linen skirt a few years ago. It was long and flowy and looked like spring. The reality of the skirt on my body wasn't good. It was too long, so I looked stumpy. I never had the right shirt to wear with it, and I almost always felt a little more frumpy than flowy with it on. The skirt sat in my closet, at the back of my closet, begging to go to goodwill, but I liked the fabric. I kept it around.

Finally, yesterday I did something with it. I transformed the skirt into a summer dress for Grace. She wore it all afternoon, and put it back on this morning--a very good sign. I had just enough fabric leftover to make a skirt for Julia last night, and today the girls match. I had no pattern for either of these pieces, and overall I'm really happy with how they turned out.

Very impressive! I can't even sew on a button - I always thought that was what the dry cleaners were for. :) You leave me yet again very impressed by your skills! You should start a little online market and sell kid clothes!

ADORABLE! too bad you couldn't make a cute dress like grace's for yourself (or a skirt like julia's) then you guys could look like you would be on the cover of hannah andersson or something :) impressive!!!

Well done! It is a pretty fabric. It's always startling to me that not everyone does know how to sew (or is taught).
I don't think either Karen or Sarah have the interest, experience, or time. Anyway, the girls look great.

Ellen,
That is beautiful..the girls
look like models!
It reminds me that my Mom did
this sort of thing..could make
clothes for us out of hers or
even Dad's clothing.
Truly you are talented!
Thanks for sharing.
God bless all. Love, Aunt Kathy

Thanks, ladies. I did it for fun, mostly. These days kids clothes are so cheap that the benefit of making them is really small. I also have the time (unlike my amigo Sarah). Having the time makes a huge difference.

I'm in awe :). I really have the desire to sew, but no know-how or machine. Sigh. The girls look so cute, they should be in a magazine.
