Grace in small things: 16 of 356

1. "My daddy is my beautiful best friend"
So says Julia. She also says that he is her best girl too.

2. Being color blind.
Grace still regularly identifies people by the color of their shirt rather than the color of their skin.

3. Handmade Halloween costumes.
In process right now. Thank goodness the requests were relatively simple this year: Little Red Riding Hood for Grace and a Ghost for Julia.

4. Boundaries.
I have to wake Julia from her nap each day to walk over and retrieve Grace from school. While the girls are thrilled to see each other, they instinctively know that they need separate space once we get home. Grace sits at the kitchen island to do her homework, and Julia plays by herself in the living room. On days they don't self impose these boundaries, there's always a lot of fighting.

5. Apple Pie.
A fall staple for me. Apples from Michigan recently arrived in our grocery store, and pie is on the menu this weekend.
