Not a downer at all. It brought back memories. I'm from the UP of Michigan originally (where the men are men and the women are too)! I remember many a blizzard just like the one you described.
The question is, of course, which is worse: snow or heat? Snow just might win that battle. It's likely that we will be in the 90's for a long time to come (with heat index in the 100's), so I may change my mind.

it's 85 and humid here today.
so the cliche holds true... "It's not the heat, it's the humidity that makes is unbeable."
Have to go de-frizz my hair now...
