From here to there (and everywhere in between)

From June 3rd to July 19th, that's six and a half weeks (if you're counting).

From 99,308 to 106,105. That's 6,797 miles for our van. In One Trip.

From state to state: Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. That's 18 states. We were definitely counting.

From our first night in the tent (Wall Doxey State Park, Mississippi, a night that never got below 85 degrees) to our 17th night (in Yellowstone where we woke to a tent encased in ice). That's 17 nights sleeping side by side with a three and five year old.

Those are the things we can measure: nights camping, states visited, miles on the van. What's a little more complicated is how we've changed and grown as individuals and as a family. It will take me a little longer to write about that. There's also a slew of photos to be uploaded (and poured over, so we can squeeze every memory from them). We've had a truly remarkable adventure.

And now it's time for bed, in my bed for the first time in 46 nights.

Welcome home...I'm sure it's feeling surreal. I can't wait to hear the camping saga(s)!

I am so happy you are back. I can't wait to catch up and look at all of the photos! I think that is an awesome trip - one we won't be able to take. Corporate america doesn't like 6 weeks off. :) Oh well. Glad you are home safe.

Camping sagas to come. Think stitches! Think rain, snow, sleet, and hail (6 times). Think lost and not found!

What's really remarkable is that we didn't have single bad word until we headed East (and that's a saga that won't be posted)!

One of the hardest parts of the trip was not emailing you EVERY DAY! I may not like Macon all that much, but at least now I'll be in regular contact.

Now if only I could figure out how to get the pictures from craig's computer....

Welcome home! Excited to hear more. The fact that you all made it back home and (I'm assuming) are still speaking to one another sounds like victory to me! :) Seriously, though, what a cool adventure. Ryan and I did something similar before starting grad school but, of course, he and I were the only kids on that trip.

Mandy,

I can't tell you how many time we said, "why didn't we do this before we had kids?" Grace and Julia were great, true campers, but hiking at 1 mile per 3 hours is a drag. We've decided to do a short, harder core trip for ourselves next summer on our tenth anniversary.

All in all, I can't complain. It was the best trip I've ever taken.
